BioSim has had a significant participation in the conference on health organized by Unidad Editorial, which has been held today in Madrid. The forum, which has had the presence of various experts in the sector, addressed a program with the intention of assessing issues related to the current challenges of the Spanish health system in the coming years, both financial and the increase in the demand for care and its qualitative improvement, as well as the scarcity of available resources.
Specifically, BioSim has moderated a table entitled "Biosimilar Medicines. Balance of its efficacy, safety and cost”. In it have participated Nieves Martín Sobrino, Technical Director of Pharmaceutical Assistance of the Ministry of Health of the Government of Castilla y León and Francisco Zaragozá García, Director of the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Alcalá de Henares. The table has been moderated by Regina Múzquiz Vicente-Arche, General Director of BioSim.
During this session, aspects such as the efficacy and safety provided by biosimilars have been discussed; the challenges involved in its introduction; their differential aspects as biological therapies; how to promote purchasing decisions by health providers; the clinical benefit they can offer to patients; the improvements they provide in relation to the sustainability of the health system; the innovation that they require in their different phases; the training requirements necessary for professionals to know and use them; and the need for a health policy that promotes its use.
