The Global. The Ministry of Health and the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (Aemps) wanted to celebrate the arrival of the new Spanish Association of Biosimilar Medicines (BioSim) highlighting the contribution that these drugs make to the sustainability of the National Health System. In his public presentation, which took place at the Ministry of Health headquarters, the general director of the Basic Portfolio of Health Services and Pharmacy, Agustín Rivero, assured that "biosimilars can allow access to a greater number of patients with the same budget. In this sense, Rivero assured that these medicines, of which he highlighted their safety, "can improve the situation of the national system, providing notable savings." Thus, he explained, in the next five years biosimilars can provide savings of between 400 and 500 million euros.
