Joaquín Rodrigo and Regina Múzquiz, president and general director of BioSim (Spanish Association of Biosimilars), met today April 18 with Carmen Vela, Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation, and with Jesús Fernández Crespo, general director of the Institute of Health Carlos III. Dr. Gonzalo Calvo, head of the Clinical Pharmacology Service of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, was also present during the visit as BioSim's scientific advisor.
The purpose of the meeting was to present the companies that make up BioSim, as well as the strategic objectives of the Association for 2017. Throughout the event, the innovation represented by biosimilars and their growing contribution were highlighted in a special way within the pharmacotherapeutic resources in Spain.
During the meeting, BioSim representatives discussed topics such as innovation in R&D, production, regulation and management, and the way in which biosimilars increasingly contribute to the efficiency of the National Health System, which has positively in the access of patients to biological treatments for relevant pathologies.
